Day 2 - 7 Star Lake and Stone House!

After leaving the Gorge, I started to feel rather sick,
my throat was aching and my temperature went up.
I was running a fever... -_-
Think its due to the accumulated stress cum heatiness from the exam period
Nonetheless we proceeded to our next checkpoint
7 Star Lake
Its a cool mood gravel beach

Misty clouds

Ta dah! Next stop!
Sashimi shop!
We were really excited as both of us are sashimi lovers

Can you believe that this cost only 100TWD!
Which is SGD4.50! Cheeeeappp!
It was fresh, yummy and sail fish rockS with a capital S

Picture of us with me holding a peanutshavingsicecreamwrappedinpopiah thingy
I had to eat it to bring down my temperature a little
and we drove back to the homestay,
stopping by the famous "Chong You Bing" aka Onion oil pancake.
That is the killer... Unleashed the torrent of disease onto me

View from 2nd floor of the Stone House.

Sadly we were supposed to go light sky lanterns and fireworks
But due to my now HIGH fever, I was immobile and poor Ivy had to eat packed dinner
Fried Pork Rib Soup that was pretty delicious and surprisingly not oily.
Auntie Liu, the owner of the Stone house was kind enough to provide me medication
and also offered to bring me to a doc,
but I rejected, knowing I'll heal fast enough.
Ivy also took very good care of me,
so,
Thank you baby..

Anyway, on the cab while on the way back to the homestay,
Mr Chen also gave me some medicine.
Its some weird chinese liquid and he himself took out a bottle to cheers with me..
Tasted awfully dubious and I just downed it w/o a second thought
This is what I drank..

Day 2 - Hualian, Taroko Gorge, Part 4

Yes yes.. we are still at Day 2, Taroko Gorge

Now we are near the Swallow's Cave

Notice anything out of the ordinary???
.
.
.
.
Yes, saw that face formed by rocks?
It resembles the Easter Islands Stone Faces

Slushy Water

Now this is the Ci Mu Qiao
And what you see over here is a rock formation that looks like a frog
Legend has it that Taiwan,
despite being plagued by typhoons,
they are protected by floods due to this rock frog

The Yue Fei Suspension bridge
No, Yue Fei did not go on the bridge before,
Just that there is a nearby temple for Yue Fei,
Ivy have a fear of heights hence she was clinching on to me real tight

View from the bridge
Lol, I don't think there is much to explain

From the backstage

SCAM Logs..
Yes.. The Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail
Upon reaching this destination, our cab driver, Mr Chen,
handed us 2 sheets of tissue paper,
gave us specific instructions to a certain part of the tunnel
to release the tissue paper in the air
and see it drift up into the sky

We were also required to wear helmet for our safety,
so once we reached that SPECIFIC place,
we released the paper for 6 times...
and for that 6 times....
it flew right in... -_-'
and there we were behaving suspiciously,
afraid that people would see our littering act.
tsk

2nd scam..
We saw this long flight of stairs and started to ascend the stairs
due to the strong curiosity of ours
so we climbed this ridiculously long flight of stairs,
we saw posters of some herbal drink being sold upstairs
Once at the top, we were damn thirsty and had to get a cold drink
to cool us a lil.. and we decided to get those herbal drink...
ITS SUPER EXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
1 500ml bottle cost 100 TWD and we bought 2...
that's around 8 SGD for 2 bottles of cheap herbal tea...
-_-'
Scammed..

Day 2 - Hualian, Taroko Gorge, Part 3

Lunch Time!!
Mr Chen brought us to this old school restaurant for lunch

Back to the 70's
Its famous for...

Kampong Chicken
Slighty more chewy but delicious still...
We tried an interesting fish as well

Man Po fish
that tastes like scallops!

Next Stop, 3 km stroll at Shakadang
Shakadang Entrance

Looks suicidal to me

Day 2 - Taipei to Hualian, Taroko Gorge, Part 1

After waking up in our home stay in Zhongxiao Fuxing, we headed over to Taipei Main Station for a quick fix of breakfast and coffee from 7-11.
FYI, Daybreak is at 5 plus and breakfast opens pretty late..
Mascot

The platform for the train.. NOT MRT or Highspeed rail.. Just Train

Tickets to Hua Lien

Upon reaching HuaLien after 2.5 hours,
We met up with our driver, Mr Chen
And he treated us to a local delight.

Orh Han Zi aka Roasted Sweet Potato
Superbly Sweet, Sticky and Purplish

And we passed by the infamous Bin Lang shops
Mr Chen explained shops with 3 coloured lightings are those scandily clad woman
while single lighting means for those normal shops

This is what they look like, but those sold are usually smaller

Next we head off to Taroko Gorge

Mr Chen asked us to jump in air with Ivy giving minimal effort

Taiwan Day 1

Basically Day 1 was rather uneventful,
Reason being,
Our flight is in the afternoon and when we reached,
It was already 7 plus,
Hence,
Not much you can do less for dinner.

So its Food, Food, Food!

The Golfball

Our Maki Lunch with cute little fish soya sauce container

Dinner at a Yunnan Restaurant,
Their version of "thick beehoon" soup
The serving was humongous
And the subject of this pic is the Pig Blood!

Herbal chicken to warm up our chilled bodies,
Not very effective nor delicious

"Yuan Yang" and Pu 'Er Tea with milk.. Damn Good..
